Romantic Valentines Day poems

A charm invests a face
by Emily Dickinson

A charm invests a face
Imperfectly beheld.
The lady dare not lift her veil
For fear it be dispelled.

But peers beyond her mesh,
And wishes, and denies,
Lest interview annul a want
That image satisfies.
A Red Red Rose - by Robert Burns

O my Love's like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June;
O my Love's like the melody
That's sweetly played in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry:

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve,
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' it ware ten thousand mile.

Come live with me and be my love
By Christopher Marlowe

Come live with me and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove
That valleys, groves, hills, and fields,
Woods or steepy mountain yields.

And we will sit upon the rocks,
Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks,
By shallow rivers to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.

And I will make thee beds of roses
And a thousand fragrant posies,
A cap of flowers, and a kirtle
Embroidered all with leaves of myrtle;

A gown made of the finest wool
Which from our pretty lambs we pull;
Fair lined slippers for the cold,
With buckles of the purest gold;

A belt of straw and ivy buds,
With coral clasps and amber studs:
And if these pleasures may thee move,
Come live with me and be my love.

The shepherds' swains shall dance and sing
For thy delight each May morning:
If these delights thy mind may move,
Then live with me and be my love.

The Passionate Shepherd to His Love
Christopher Marlowe

Valentines day - by Smile

Happy Valentines Day from me to you.
So glad i sent a card to you.
You know how I feel you know what i want.
So when you're ready help me out.
Tonight I'll be the man of your dreams.
Tomorrow I'll be the man of your life.
I'll take your hand I'll take your mind.
I'll take you to a little place of mine.
I'll see you smile I'll see you cry.
But I'll never be a man who cheat or Lie's.

Making Valentines

In February, what shall I do?
I'll make some valentines for you.
The first will have a cupid's face;
The second will be trimmed with lace.
The third will have some roses pink;
The fourth will have a verse in ink.
The fifth will have a ribbon bow;
The sixth will glisten like the snow.
The seventh will have some lines I drew;
The eighth, some flowers--just a few.
The ninth will have three little birds;
The tenth will have three little words:
I LOVE YOU!

LOVE

Ricky was "L" but he's home with the flu.
Lizzie, our "O", had some homework to do.
Mitchell, "E" prob'ly got lost on the way.
So I'm all of love that could make it today.

WILL YOU PLEASE BE MY VALENTINE?

Remember when a Valentine
Was just a name that you just drew
And you could give that Paper Heart
To someone you barely knew.

Or you maybe gave your Heart
To everybody in your Class
Drawn and cut, with Your Words
That were so much Fun to pass.

And too, those little Candy Hearts
That you used to pass around
Searching Colors and the Words
Until that Perfect One was found.

And remember that Special One
Who made your Heart skip a beat
Who you gave that Special Card
Who gave your Heart a Special Treat.

And remember how easy it was
To tell a Classmate, "I Love You!"
Not just three meaningless words
Cause everyone knew they were True.

Oh, for those Days of Innocence
When everything seemed to be Just Fine
And you weren’t afraid to ask aloud,
"Will you please be my Valentine?"

How Do I Love Thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being an ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.

I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,--I love thee with the Breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!--and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Elizabeth Barret Browning

PASSING stranger! you do not know
How longingly I look upon you,
You must be he I was seeking,
Or she I was seeking,
(It comes to me as of a dream,)
I have somewhere surely
Lived a life of joy with you,
All is recall'd as we flit by each other,
Fluid, affectionate, chaste, matured,
You grew up with me,
Were a boy with me or a girl with me,
I ate with you and slept with you, your body has become
Not yours only nor left my body mine only,
You give me the pleasure of your eyes,
Face, flesh, as we pass,
You take of my beard, breast, hands,
in return,

I am not to speak to you, I am to think of you
When I sit alone or wake at night alone,
I am to wait, I do not doubt I am to meet you again,
I am to see to it that I do not lose you.

Walt Whitman

Wild nights--wild nights!
Were I with thee
Wild nights should be
Our luxury!

Futile the winds
To a heart in port--
Done with the compass,
Done with the chart!
Rowing in Eden--
Ah, the sea!
Might I moor, tonight,
In thee!

Emily Dickinson

When You Are Old

When you are old and gray and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true;
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face.

And bending down beside the glowing bars
Murmur, a little sadly, how love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And his face amid a crowd of stars.

by W B Yeats

Love Is Enough

Love is enough: though the world be a-waning,
And the woods have no voice but the voice of complaining,
Though the skies be too dark for dim eyes to discover
The gold-cups and daisies fair blooming thereunder,
Though the hills be held shadows, and the sea a dark wonder,
And this day draw a veil over all deeds passed over,
Yet their hands shall not tremble, their feet shall not falter:
The void shall not weary, the fear shall not alter
These lips and these eyes of the loved and the lover.

by William Morris

You Make Me Smile

You make me smile when I feel sad,
You forgive me even if I make you mad,
You taught me what’s right and wrong,
You also taught me how to sing a song,
There’s one more thing you need to know,
You are loved more than words can ever show,
There is nothing mo that I can say,
Just have a lovely valentine’s day.

Beautiful Love

If I could spend a day with you,
we’d never get enough of each other’s company.
We’d hold hands as we strolled
along the beach and we’d talk about everything.

If I could spend an evening with you,
I’d cherish each minute that we’re together.
I’d stare into your eyes,
and, without a single word,
you’d know how much I love you.

If I could spend a night with you,
I’d hold you in my arms the
whole night long…
and I’d make passionate love to you.

Heart Question

If i gave you a ring
would you wear it all day?
if i gave you a rose
what would you say?

if i gave you a picture
of just me and you
if i framed that photo
what would you do?

if i gave you a kiss
would you kiss me again?
if i gave you my love
what would you do then?

if i gave you this poem
and sang you a line
if i offered my heart
would you please be mine?

Chocolate Covered Heart

You have waited another year for this day,
This romanctic day some people call gay.
You step out of bed look in the mirror,
As your love is getting clearer and clearer.

You go to the closet pick out your best things,
Today you hope you get a special love’s rings.
Put on a special scent the expensive stuff,
So that those guys around you are no longer tough.

As you walk out the door you look inside and smile,
Because today is the day you’ll be his for a while.
You finally arrive at school your place to be,
And your really sad at what you see.

Down the hall just a few lockers down,
Him kissing someone else makes you instantly frown.
But then you see he isn’t kissing her,
He is getting her off and this you know for sure.

I Love You

I love you in each and every way ,
It hurts so much when you are away ,
I just have to call you and say ,
I love you in each and every way.

Hamlet

Tomorrow is St Valentine’s Day
All in the morning betime,
And I a maid at your window,
To be your valentine!

Poem by William Shakespeare

Destiny

Somewhere there waiteth in this world of ours
For one lone soul another lonely soul
Each choosing each through all the weary hours
And meeting strangely at one sudden goal.
Then blend they, like green leaves with golden flowers,
Into one beautiful and perfect whole;
And life’s long night is ended, and the way
Lies open onward to eternal day.

“Poem by Edwin Arnold.”

Morning Star

Each day your smile becomes my morning star.
I look at you and then my feelings shine.
From you I learn far more than words or numbers.
You’re the book that someday will be mine.

You’re the one whose love my love of learning
Will one day trace in its ancestral line.
For all the ways you help me grow towards beauty,
I ask you please to be my Valentine.

“This valentine poem is dedicated to a TEACHER.”
